Valley Forge Military Academy seeks to educate and develop students for college entrance,
career success and responsible citizenship. Valley Forge fosters an intense and
individualized learning experience. With a student-teacher ratio of 9:1 and classes
averaging just 13 students, personal attention is assured. The school year extends from
late August to early June and is divided into two semesters, each
having two marking periods. /
Daily Schedule
Comprehensive Curriculum
You'll benefit from a well-rounded curriculum that includes courses in history,
literature, mathematics, social studies,
science, foreign languages, health and physical
education, art, computer science, social etiquette, character education, and more. Middle
school cadets complete an adapted academic program that includes most of these courses
plus music. Class periods (eight per day) normally cover 40 minutes each with double
periods for laboratory courses.
Because we realize all students learn differently, we offer a three-tiered approach to
academic work that allows us to work with cadets at a level that's right for them. All
cadets attend JROTC instruction. We also offer Advanced Placement and honors coursework,
a Reading Program, an SAT prep course, and an intensive English Language Institute.
Opportunities for independent study, off-campus field trips, and enrollment in courses at Valley
Forge Military College are available to cadets.
Academic Support
A challenging
curriculum, dedicated faculty, small classes, and individual attention provide cadets an
environment conducive to attaining academic success. Because we encourage and expect you
to do your best work, the faculty will supervise and assist you in your mandatory two-hour
study period. To ensure further academic support, our Cadet Achievement Center
features
the resources you need to excel within and beyond the classroom.
Academic Facilities
Shannon Hall is the principal academic building. In addition to classrooms, it includes
biology, chemistry and physics laboratories; a computer complex; and the military science
department. The Friedman Auditorium serves as a large study
hall, a conference and instructional center, and a center for SAT and other testing
procedures. Lhotak Hall houses the Middle School and its computer center.
The May H. Baker
Memorial Library contains more than 100,000 volumes, and houses a computer center,
Writing Center, and Study Center. |

Technology
A fiber-optic, Internet-capable computer network connects all classrooms, laboratories,
library and dormitory rooms on the campus. Rooms are computer
accessible and provide access to
Cadet Net, the institutional local
area network. This network provides access to the library and the
Internet, and includes helpful campus information and
technical support. |
