SUMMER COMPASS PROGRAM
Our summer COMPASS program is designed to help you start off in the right direction as you begin your Valley Forge Military College experience. The four-week program is created for students planning to enroll as freshmen in the fall semester. It is especially helpful for students who:

  • Need support in writing, mathematics or study skills
  • Benefit from small classes
  • Value technology-supported instruction
  • Speak English as their second language
The COMPASS program helps incoming freshmen build a foundation for success on the collegiate level. The intensive program is broken into three areas and includes daily assignments, self-paced tutorials, committed faculty, and regularly scheduled study sessions. 
Developmental Writing and Study Skills
  • sentence generation,
  • collaborative class writing,
  • controlled paragraph writing,
  • critical reading,
  • note-taking,
  • test preparation.

Developmental Mathematics

  • self-paced tutorials
  • instructor-assisted
  • introduces and reviews basic math concepts
  • prepares student for college algebra
  • uses computer-assisted instruction
English as a Second Language (ESL)
  • benefits students whose TOEFL scores were insufficient for college enrollment
  • enhances reading and writing skills
  • increases listening and speaking skills
Registration and Fees
  • Students interested in enrolling in COMPASS must have completed an application for fall admission to VFMC

  • Registration fee of $500 due by July 1
  • COMPASS enrollment fee is $2,500
  • Medical coverage provided through Cadet Health Center
  • Housing provided in college dormitories
  • Meals provided through VFMA&C dining facility.
