Content Writing/Editing
Content is key. It is the key to communicating what your business can do for potential customers, and it is the key to ranking higher in search engine results. Your website content must be written in the right way to do these two things, however. What kind of visitors are you trying to attract? What are these visitors seeking on your website? What kind of information do you want from them? These are helpful questions to ask when planning a website and the answers help ensure that you fashion your content with the right focus.
It also helps if your content is clearly written, speaks to the intended audience, and is grammatically correct. Content should also be written in language that everyone understands. I don't mean language as in the English language; rather, I mean language as in its educational level. I can help you create content that satisfies these needs and more.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Does your website show up in Google, Yahoo! and Bing? Do you know what search terms potential visitors use in these search engines? Do you know what keywords are important in relation to your business? Do you know the 150+ algorithms that Google uses to rank websites and how sites get placed in search results?
When your website pages do appear in search engine results, do the name and description shown indicate exactly what can be found on that page? How many other websites are linking to your site? Do your links indicate to the user what will happen when they click them?
These are just some of the factors that search engines like Google, Yahoo! and Bing take into account when "crawling" and "indexing" your site. There are many, many more. I can help you incorporate these elements so that your search engine ranking improves and potential customers can find you.
I was recently successful in having Penn Orthopaedics' Sports Medicine transition from no placement at all in Google search results to appearing in the middle of page two when searching for sports medicine in Philadelphia.
Information Architecture (IA)
Have you established a strategy for your website? What is the purpose of your website?
Information architecture (IA) in Web terms relates to the way in which the site is architected (or built), how content relates throughout the site, and how the site is navigated. In other words, how the content is treated, laid out and connected is as important as the actual content.
Once the strategy for your website is determined, the IA must be established. This becomes the blueprint for the site. I can architect your website in the best possible manner so that users easily find the information they are seeking and there is a 360-degree effect for the user.
Quality Assurance (QA)
One of the last steps before launching a website is quality assurance. You want to be sure that there are no mistakes - no typos, no grammatical errors, no bad links, etc. Since early in my career, I have earned the alias "Eagle Eye" because I spot errors quickly and easily, even when items have been proofread and/or reviewed by multiple other parties.
Quality assurance (QA) should actually be done throughout a project to catch problems early enough to correct them before they lead to further problems. But QA can be peformed on projects that have already been completed too. Regardless of when you choose to have your site QA'ed, it is still a necessary step and I can catch any errors and/or mishaps that may have been missed by your designers, writers, editors and/or developers.
